HumanOptics AG’s scientific program during the 31st International DOC Congress (June 14 – 16, 2018, Nuremberg) with the product launch of the ASPIRA-aXA was one of the highlights of the company.
Under the title “ASPIRA-aXA – XL-Optic for Vision without Limits” Prof. Gernot I.W. Duncker presented the implantation technique and rotational stability of the new IOL. Prof. Matthias Bolz described his experiences with the ASPIRA-aXA from the perspective of a retinologist, and Dr. Anja Liekfeld reported on her successful use of the new lens in a case of traumatic mydriasis.
With its 7.0 mm XL optic, the ASPIRA-aXA offers optimal conditions for the long-term pseudophakic reliability of patients. The extended view of the fundus through the option of a 6.5 mm rhexis represents a key benefit from a vitreoretinal point of view. Patients with large pupils also benefit from the large optic with regard to annoying optical phenomena. Under the moderation of Professor Manfred Tetz, Berlin, the speakers discussed in detail the huge potential applications the new lens geometry makes possible.
